‘Not giving priority to the biggest cause of car damage’

Rear end accident collision damage

Failure to give priority is by far the most common cause of damage. This is reported by insurer Diks on the basis of data it has collected together with 112 damage.

Insurer Diks and 112schade report the failure of the counterparty to give priority as the cause in more than 38 percent of the 4,500 claims made in the past 5 years that were examined. In about 15 percent of the damage reports, driving on the back of the predecessor appeared to have been the cause of car damage.

Stationary cars are also not always easy to avoid. In more than 12 percent of the damage reports investigated, the other party collided with a parked vehicle. Diks and 112schade also report that as a result of the pandemic, fewer claims were made in 2020 than in other years, although the number of claims in 2021 was almost back to the level of 2019. Many claims were reported in June, in particular.
