New renders have leaked showing the Nothing Phone (1) in its black shade, previously we only got to see the white variant. Nothing will not use a flagship processor, but it will use a Snapdragon 778G Plus. That’s still a capable chipset.
Nothing Phone (1) chipset
Nothing has finally announced which chipset is used as the engine of its very first smartphone. We know the Snapdragon 778G Plus from the Motorola Edge 30, which we were already able to test extensively and with benchmarks. It is a chipset with a 5G modem that performs well, although it cannot be compared to a powerhouse like the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.
Against Input Mag Carl Pei, founder of both OnePlus and Nothing, tells us that the company has made a very deliberate choice. The price, performance and the energy consumption of the processor played a role in this. Carl Pei states that the Snapdragon 778G Plus is more economical than Qualcomm’s most powerful processors and Nothing has ensured that his phone does not make any compromises in terms of features. At the request of Nothing, Qualcomm has provided special support for wireless charging, which is normally not possible with the midrange processor.
black tint
Until now, we could only see the Nothing Phone (1) in images where it appeared in its white shade, with or without parakeets. Renowned rumor spreader Ishan Agarwal is now also sharing images showing the phone with a black tint. Of course, that variant also comes with 900 white LEDs.

We also expect that the Nothing Phone (1) will have a 6.55-inch screen. It is an OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. The phone will get at least 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage and it will get a 4,500 mAh battery that can be charged with a 45W fast charger. With this phone, the fingerprint scanner is on the side and the phone works with Android 12 and its own Nothing OS. The Nothing Phone (1) will be released on July 12 and it will cost around 500 euros. The choice for the Snapdragon 778G Plus certainly contributes to the midrange price.
