Now also a four-year warranty for Volkswagen and Skoda

At the mainstreambrands of the Volkswagen Group, there was a curious difference when it comes to warranty. At Seat you got four years, at Volkswagen and Skoda half. That is now being rectified.

From model year 2021, all new Volkswagens and Skodas have a four-year warranty period. Now in Europe we are not so used to thinking in model years, but the bottom line is that cars that are built and delivered from now on will receive the extra warranty. In both cases it concerns a two-year manufacturer’s warranty, extended with an additional two years from the importer. For the last two years, a kilometer limit of 100,000 km applies. Those who drive more than 25,000 km per year are therefore more likely to reach the end of their warranty period.

Skoda does have a notable exception to this rule: electric models still have a 2-year warranty. This currently only concerns the electric Citigo. Fear of problems with the battery pack are also alleviated, because with electric and hybrid models Skoda gives an 8-year or 160,000 km warranty on the high-voltage battery.

Infotainment and standard DAB +

In addition to more warranty, all new Volkswagens from now on also receive digital DAB + radio as standard. There are also small innovations in the field of infotainment. For example, all models from the Polo now have a ‘Ready to Discover’ system with an 8-inch touchscreen on board, with the menu structure also being renewed. The cars will also receive two USB-C connections and the Streaming & Internet functionality is now always available, so that over-the-air updates are possible. This also makes it easy to expand the system with navigation, for example. The We Connect functions, consisting of online services and an app, are now always present from the Polo.
