Dutchman under pressure
It does not really go smoothly with Nyck de Vries in his first full Formula 1 season. The Dutchman is clearly having a hard time and now a decision has already been made about who can replace him at AlphaTauri.
After his impressive performance in Monza last year, the hope was that Nyck de Vries could show great things in Formula 1 this year. For the time being, it is just a bit disappointing. The 28-year-old driver from Friesland is last in the championship and has not yet scored a point this year. After a difficult weekend in Azerbaijan, in which De Vries crashed in qualifying and the race, there was another collision with Lando Norris in Miami. De Vries finished the race, but it was again not a good story.
The pressure is on and in the meantime Daniel Ricciardo, who has returned to Red Bull, would even have started pouring a seat in Faenza to eventually replace De Vries if things continue like this. However, that rumor is not true, as you understand ESPN from sources close to the team and Ricciardo. However, according to the same sources, another replacement is being considered: Liam Lawson. The New Zealand Super Formula driver and Red Bull junior has been tipped as an F1 driver for AlphaTauri for some time. Nyck de Vries would in any case be under a magnifying glass at the Red Bull top, including Dr. Helmut Marko. It is hoped for De Vries that there will be an improvement soon.
