A wonderful day for BMW enthusiasts. The brand confirms the arrival of the M3 Touring. It is the first time in 34-year M3 history that the 3-Series Touring will be released in a fierce M3 version.
It’s official: BMW comes for the first time in M3 history with an M3 Touring. That is special. While Audi currently only supplies the RS models of the A4 and A6 as Avant and Mercedes-Benz of the C- and E-AMGs offers sedan and station versions, the hardcore M models of the 3- and 5-series are currently only available as a sedan. In fact, only two generations of the 5-series, the E34 (photo 5) and V10-generation E60 / E61 (photo 6), BMW delivered an M5 Touring. In 2000 BMW showed the M3 Touring Concept based on the 3 series (E46), but that car never went into production. Station enthusiasts can finally come to BMW for a real M3 Touring.
BMW M3 Touring Concept (2000)
BMW draws the curtain on the M3 Sedan and the M4 Coupé in September, followed by the openwork M4 Convertible a year later. The M3 Touring, of which BMW already shows a teaser record, is in any case also in the barrel. Like its sedan, coupé and convertible brothers, the M3 Touring promises to be a fierce piece of equipment. BMW has already confirmed that the M3s and M4s will have a 480 hp 3.0 six-in-line as the beating heart, a machine that is considerably more powerful than the six-cylinder in the previous generations M3 and M4. The previous M4 produced 450 hp as a Competition. The new M versions also come with extra potent Competition flavors, all-surpassing variants that will be 510 hp and 650 Nm strong.
The M3 Sedan and M4 have a manual six-speed gearbox in 480 hp trim. The Competition models are equipped with an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission. Basically, the new M3 and M4 are rear-wheel drive. Versions with xDrive drive will follow later. We can not wait.
