Chevrolet has released the first photos of the right-hand drive version of the Corvette Stingray. The C8 generation of the Corvette is not only the first in its bloodline with a mid-engine, but also the first with the steering wheel ‘on the wrong side’.
The current C8 generation of the Corvette presented in 2019 is a special one. That Stingray is in fact the first Corvette ever that has its engine not in the nose, but right behind the front seats. Chevy’s Corvette is a mid-engined powerhouse in 2021, but the model has another first. For the first time in the history of the Corvette, Chevolet is supplying a right-hand drive variant.

Chevrolet’s Japanese division has sent a series of right-hand drive Corvettes onto the Fuji Speedway track at an event designed for potential buyers. The brightly colored Chevy’s, we see Torch Red, Accelerate Yellow, Rapid Blue and Sebring Orange, among others, should have been driven by customers themselves according to the original plans. That was not possible due to the corona measures.
It is very likely that the right-hand drive Chevrolet Corvette Stingray will also find its way into the Australian and UK car markets. We do not expect any changes in the motor area. That means that in the back of the right-hand drive Corvettes there is also ‘just’ a 495 hp 6.2 V8.
