Official date Dutch Grand Prix 2021 announced

The return of Formula 1 to the Netherlands took a year longer than planned, but now it is known when a Dutch Grand Prix will actually take place in 2021. If the pandemic is on its way down enough by then, of course.

Formula 1 fans from the Low Countries may circle red for the first weekend of September 2021. Then Formula 1 will come to the Netherlands! From 3 to 5 September, the cars will enter Circuit Zandvoort, with the Dutch Grand Prix on Sunday September 5, of course, as the highlight. Sporting director Jan Lammers is delighted that we can look forward to a new moment: “The return of F1 to the Netherlands has of course been made possible by a healthy entrepreneurial initiative, but above all by the massive interest of the many racing fans in our country. This new date just after the summer has the advantage that the peak of the summer holidays is over, that there is a good chance that the weather will be good and that the corona measures will be more limited. This is a great date for Zandvoort and the entire region. ”

This year, Formula 1 would return to the Netherlands at Circuit Zandvoort for the first time since 1985. Unfortunately, the Dutch Grand Prix was canceled due to the corona crisis. It should have happened in the first weekend of May. At the time, the strict corona measures of the ‘first wave’ held it back, but Formula 1 itself did not give the green light for Grands Prix at the time. An idea to hold a Dutch Grand Prix without an audience later in the year was subsequently rejected by the organization in Zandvoort. It had to be a party with an audience, or not take place at all. So now one can look forward to September next year. Those who already had tickets for the 2020 GP and wanted to keep them after the cancellation can use them next year.
