Official: Skoda Octavia RS iV

The Skoda Octavia has been helped to a new generation, a car that naturally cannot escape RS treatment. For the first time in the history of the Czech, the Octavia RS is a plug-in hybrid!

The Skoda Octavia RS is a car that you should traditionally see as the Golf GTI, but from the Czech Republic. This also applies to the RS version of the brand new fourth generation Octavia. The sportiest version of Skoda’s Octavia gets the addition ‘iV’ after its name, and that can only mean one thing …

Indeed, just like the new Golf GTI and the plug-in hybrid flavors of the Cupra Leon and Formentor, the Octavia RS iV gets a 1.4-liter TSI under the hood, a gasoline engine that works together with a 115 hp electric motor. Together with the TSI, this ensures a system power of 245 hp and 400 Nm. The 13 kWh battery pack that Skoda de Octavia RS iV gives, is good for a full electric range of about 60 kilometers. The transmission is a DSG with six gears. A sprint from a standstill after a speed of 100 km / h is over in 7.3 seconds. The top speed is 225 km / h. Both the Combi and the hatchback are 1.5 centimeters closer to the asphalt than the regular versions and of course have a better suspension. Skoda gives its sporty versions a modified exhaust system, a more powerful brake system and a more direct steering system.

On the outside, the Octavia RS, which also becomes available as a Combi, can be recognized by the striking ‘telephone disk’ wheels that Skoda also mounted under the previous generation Octavia RS, although another set of light-alloy wheels is also available. The alloy is standard 18-inch in size, although 19-inch units are on the option list. The Czechs dress the sportiest Octavia inside with sport seats, a three-spoke steering wheel and striking stitching. The Octavia’s RSs are equipped with sportier-looking bumper work with black accents on the outside. We also come across black finishes on the mirror covers, around the window posts and also the spoiler at the top of the rear door of the hatchback is in this dark ‘color’. The one at the top of the Combi’s butt is painted in body color.

Prices and a Dutch launch date are not yet known.
