An Audi A4 1.8 TFSI with 120 hp? There must be a lot more in it. An hour and a half chip tuning brought a lot of change.

Emile Hassing herself had never heard of chip tuning. His neighbor, who came to have a look at his new Audi A4, asked how much power there was in the 1.8 TFSI engine. “That was 120 hp at the time. That neighbor then said that a lot more could easily come out.

Then I started to study how that works and I had a chip installed at ATM that should produce 210 hp and 310 Nm of torque. ” That is 90 hp extra. Talk about progress. Isn’t that assignment a bit too optimistic? Ghisbert: “I think that’s fine. This engine is built for 180 hp. So if you have one with 120 horsepower, it has been severely tweaked. You get that power back out with the greatest of ease. ”

CONSUMPTION

Such a huge increase in power; do you do all that with impunity? Emile: “You can tell from everything that he has become a lot faster. He can’t release all that power very well. There is wheelspin to second gear. In that respect it is a shame that it is not a quattro. And of course consumption has increased significantly. In Germany I once refueled Euro 95 due to lack of good petrol. I knew that, because then he didn’t do anything anymore. ” In short, there are also disadvantages.

PLEASANT SURPRISE

We already found the power increase regal on paper, but with the power measurement a pleasant surprise awaits Emile: the measurement shows much more than his tuner has promised. Only at 236 hp Ghisbert’s meters stop counting. The maximum torque is quite close to the promised 350 Nm. But when you consider that this car once started with 120 hp and 230 Nm, a chip tuning that took an hour and a half can yield a completely different car.
