OnePlus has announced a new smartphone in the Ace series in China. With the OnePlus Ace Racing Edition, the Chinese company brings a cheaper variant of the ‘regular’ Ace on the market. The device is mainly characterized by its OnePlus 10 Pro-like design, large battery that you can charge quickly, smooth display and the presence of a 3.5 mm audio jack.
OnePlus Ace Series
Last April, OnePlus announced a ‘new’ smartphone series. This ‘OnePlus Ace series’ mainly focuses on the battery, the display and the overall smooth experience. However, it mainly seems that OnePlus wants to breathe new life into the ‘OPPO Reno Ace series’ with this line.
The first smartphone from the Ace series was launched last April 22 and was very similar to the Realme GT 3 Neo in terms of specifications and design. And this is all not surprising, because OnePlus, OPPO and Realme all fall under the same parent company BBK Electroncics. The cooperation between the companies is increasing every year.
Design and cameras
If you look at the OnePlus Ace Racing Edition, you will see similarities with the OnePlus 10 Pro. Especially if you look at the camera island on the back. This has more or less the same shape and rounding as that of the OnePlus 10 Pro. The design, with its plastic finish, is a lot less luxurious than its more expensive brother.
The cameras themselves are also different copies. The OnePlus Ace Racing has a 64 MP main camera, 8 MP wide-angle lens and a 2 MP macro camera. On the front, the device has a 16 MP selfie camera.
Smooth display, large battery and fast charging
The OnePlus Ace Racing Edition features a 6.59-inch Full HD+ LCD panel with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The screen supports a 240 hertz touch sampling rate, which means that touches are registered faster.
The OnePlus Ace Racing Edition also has a 5000 mAh battery that you can charge with a power of 67 watts. This means your battery is charged from 0 to 100 percent in about 45 minutes.
Other specifications and availability
Under the hood, the OnePlus Ace Racing Edition runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 8100-MAX chipset. This is the same processor as the one used in the ‘regular’ OnePlus Ace. The device also has 8 GB of RAM and is available in a variant with 128 GB or 256 GB of storage capacity. The device runs on Android 12 with Color OS `12.1 on top. If the smartphone comes to Europe, it is expected that it will receive OxygenOS here.
So it is not yet whether and if so when the device will come to the Netherlands, Belgium or Europe at all. If this were the case, the device would have to cost about 340 euros. The version with 256 GB of storage capacity will cost 400 euros converted.
