OnePlus reveals details about the cameras on the OnePlus 10 Pro

OnePlus has revealed details of the second-generation Hasselblad cameras on the OnePlus 10 Pro. The cameras get improvements in software and hardware.

OnePlus and Hasselblad

We saw the outcome of the collaboration between OnePlus and the Swedish camera manufacturer Hasselblad for the first time with the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro. This collaboration has resulted in significant improvements in the field of photography, according to the review of the OnePlus 9 and the review of the OnePlus 9 Pro. Hasselblad was partly responsible for the camera software on these flagships and that will also be the case for the OnePlus 10 Pro.

OnePlus has revealed all the details about the camera on the OnePlus 10 Pro. We already know that it is a 48 MP, a 50 MP and an 8 MP camera, with a 32 MP selfie camera on the front. It concerns the following lenses:

  • 48MP main camera
  • 8 MP telephoto camera with 3.3x optical zoom
  • 50 MP wide-angle camera with a 150° angle of view

150° wide angle lens

It is now known that the new wide-angle sensor has an angle of view of 150°, which is up to four times wider than traditional wide-angle cameras. Thanks to this larger field of view, you can record even more things on the sensitive plate with the OnePlus 10 Pro.

This wide-angle camera also gets two new functions. For example, there is a new Fisheye mode that mimics the appearance of special 360° cameras. In addition, you can take pictures with this camera in a more traditional field of view of 110°.

OnePlus Billion Color Solution

Then the software is tackled and OnePlus Billion Color Solution we discuss first. With this feature for the camera, natural color calibration via Hasselblad on the OnePlus 10 Pro can be applied to more than a billion colors. The OnePlus 10 Pro is the first OnePlus device with a camera system that shoots in full 10-bit color to enable a more natural and sharper reproduction of color for every photo.

In addition, thanks to this OnePlus Billion Color Solution, the OnePlus 10 Pro captures photos with coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut. According to OnePlus, it can process 64 times more color than its predecessor, the OnePlus 9 Pro. 10-bit color is supported on each of the OnePlus 10 Pro’s three rear cameras – the main camera, telephoto, and wide-angle.

Improved Hasselblad Pro Mode

The three cameras on the back of the OnePlus 10 Pro feature the second-generation Hasselblad Pro Mode. This makes it possible to capture photos in 12-bit RAW, complete with Hasselblad Natural Color Solution. The Pro mode also supports the new RAW format called RAW+. This ensures the highest quality photo files, but also more possibilities to edit them.

New Movie Mode

Finally, there is the new Movie Mode. This camera feature lets you adjust ISO, shutter speed, and more before and during video recording. In addition, Movie Mode allows you to film in LOG format without a preset image profile, giving videographers a blank canvas that can be easily edited. Images shot in LOG format also have a wider dynamic range and provide more information about shadows and highlights.

The OnePlus 10 Pro will be launched in China on Tuesday, January 11. The Netherlands and Belgium will follow later. What do you think of these camera improvements of the OnePlus 10 Pro? Let us know in the comments at the bottom of this article.
