Last year, OnePlus announced that phones would get two major Android updates and three years of security updates before the OnePlus 8 series. For the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T from 2018, software support will now end.
No updates for the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T
OnePlus is ending software support for the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T. On the OnePlus Forum informs the Chinese company: “After 3 major updates and more than 3 years of updates, about 60 Closed Betabuilds and over 30 Open Betabuilds, now is the time to close a chapter and announce the end of official software support for OnePlus 6 and 6T.”
In closing, OnePlus would like to thank all beta testers who have tested features since 2018 before bringing them to the stable version: “You guys played a big part in optimizing OxygenOS to ensure an overall better experience.” Fortunately, this does not mean that you should now put your OnePlus 6 or OnePlus 6T on Marktplaats. In fact, there is an active OnePlus community of developers who will continue to support the two devices with custom ROMs based on the latest Android versions.
The OnePlus 6 got a Snapdragon 845, a 6.28-inch AMOLED screen and a 20 and 16 megapixel camera on the back. The OnePlus 6T differed in storage memory and said goodbye to the 3.5mm headphone jack. It was replaced by a fingerprint scanner under the screen and a larger battery of 3700 mAh. The OnePlus 6 received a suggested retail price from 519 euros and the OnePlus 6T you bought from 598 euros. Last year, the phones received an update to Android 11.
