And he’s standing there under the cloth

Opel EV lineup

In a new press release, Opel applauds the size of the electric lineup, which will soon become even larger. The news includes the name of the successor to the Opel Grandland, which apparently will not change after all.

Do we post it, or don’t we post it? That is often the question with these types of press releases, which are thinner in content than the straps of a Rocks-e. Opel shows the two new electric SUVs that are coming in a nice overview photo, but through a completely covering cloth we actually learn nothing about it. Yet there is one interesting thing to discover about the message: Opel emphatically calls the upcoming Grandland ‘Grandland’ for the first time. The brand previously did not do this and that led to all kinds of speculation about a possible name change, fueled by the fact that the successor to the Crossland will be called ‘Frontera’. Forget all that: apparently it’s still just ‘Grandland’.

Naturally, the covered newcomers in the image are the Opel Frontera (left) and the car that apparently continues to be called Grandland. As always, the latter is the sister model of the Peugeot 3008, so feel free to take a look at the specifications of that car to learn something about the Grandland. In addition to an electric variant with a maximum range of about 700 kilometers, there will also be ‘normal’ petrol versions and plug-ins.

The Opel Frontera is the successor to the Crossland and promises to have a somewhat cooler, fairly square body. The renewal certainly does not come too soon for the Crossland, because compared to, among others, the Peugeot 2008, the Crossland, designed before the takeover of Opel, is still on an older platform. The more or less equally large Mokka is up to date, but Opel continues to carry two different models in the high B segment.
