Opel presents a delivery version of its miniscule electric city car: the Rocks-e. The Rocks-e Kargo will also be launched on the Dutch market and will soon be one of the smallest electric delivery vans.
In early 2022, Opel confirmed that it would bring the Rocks-e to the Netherlands. That 2.41 meter short small city EV is a brother of the Citroën Ami. Just like the Citroën Ami, the Opel Rocks-e also gets an order version: the Rocks-e Kargo.
The Rocks-e Kargo is an electric delivery van for the city with which Opel wants to deliver small loads. The Rocks-e is a small cart by nature, so it makes sense that you can’t lose a huge load in the order version. Opel has created a modular cargo area where the passenger seat normally sits. The luggage compartment can be reached either through the passenger door or from the driver’s seat. The lockable storage space has about 260 liters of storage space, according to Opel large enough to replace loads that are often delivered via scooters, such as meals and medicines. The load floor of the luggage compartment is adjustable in height. In the lowest position you can store objects with a length of up to 1.2 meters. The maximum payload is 140 kilos.
Opel Rocks-e
The powertrain of the Opel Rocks-e Kargo is identical to that of the regular Rocks-e. That means: an 8 hp (peak power 12 hp) strong electric motor that gets its zest for life from a 5.5 kWh battery pack. The range is 75 kilometers, the top speed is set at 45 km/h. Because the Rocks-e Kargo is also seen as a microcar by law, you can drive it from 16 years and with a moped driver’s license. As with the conventional Rocks-e, the door on the passenger side – in this case the cargo area side – opens in the opposite direction to that on the driver’s side.
The Opel Rocks-e Kargo is also coming to the Netherlands this year. It is not yet known when it will be available and what it will cost.
