Maserati gives us a first look at the announced convertible version of the Maserati MC20. That look doesn’t mean much anyway.
The MC20 in question is completely wrapped in an appropriate cloud motif, whereby the Italians have, of course, gone to work rigorously especially at the roof. In addition, the most interesting side – the back – has been carefully kept out of the picture. What we do see, is quite similar to the MC20 coupé. For the open version, count on a car with a compact and light folding roof, as is customary in supercar land these days. The difference in weight must therefore also be limited.
Maserati itself speaks of the MC20 ‘convertible’ (without a capital letter) and therefore not of the perhaps more obvious ‘Spider’ or ‘Spyder’. The most logical explanation, however, is that Maserati wants to keep the final name under wraps for a while, so we’ll bet on that. The open Maserati MC20 should appear without camouflage early next year.
