Nice durable design
The Oppo A78 5G has a striking design with beautiful accents, including polished rings around the camera module and a shimmering look with a fingerprint-free matte finish on the back. Weighing only 188 grams and measuring 7.99 mm thick, the phone has a sleek look and offers a good handfeel and a comfortable grip (1). The A78 5G is available in two colors: Glowing Black and Glowing Blue.
Screen, processor and memory
The colorful 6.65-inch screen with a resolution of 1612 x 720 pixels is HD+ (not full-HD) and the 90Hz refresh rate should provide a smooth and comfortable viewing experience. All-Day AI Eye Comfort is also included and adapts the screen to the environment and time of day for 24/7 eye protection and viewing comfort.
The efficient MediaTek Dimensity 700 should provide good 5G performance and is supplemented with 4 GB of working memory (RAM) and 128 GB of storage memory (ROM). The Oppo A78 5G offers enough memory and storage for everyday use as standard, but both can be expanded even further. The storage capacity can be expanded via an external microSD card up to 1 TB, while Oppo’s RAM Expansion technology allows you to virtually expand the RAM (up to an additional 4 GB) for a smoother experience when using multiple apps at the same time.
Battery and charging
Thanks to the 33W SUPERVOOC fast charging technology, the 5,000mAh battery of the A78 5G fully charges to 100% in 67 minutes (2). More than 22 hours of phone calls are possible on a full charge, so users don’t have to worry about the state of their battery all day long.
The A78 5G also includes a number of smart power management features, which help users to further improve the performance and overall life of their battery. For example, the Super Power Saving mode makes the most of the last battery percentages, while Super Night Standby learns the user’s sleeping pattern to limit power consumption during the night to just 2%.
Cameras and audio
The Oppo A78 5G features a 50MP main camera that allows users to capture clear, high-resolution images, while a 2MP self-portrait lens adds depth and a bokeh effect for good portraits. On the front is an 8MP front camera for selfies and video calling with friends and family.
To capture even more visual detail, the A78 5G uses software algorithms to boost the resolution to 108MP, delivering striking image sharpness. With a range of smart image functions such as AI Portrait Retouching, AI Scene Enhancement and Ultra Night Mode, users can unleash their creativity.
The dual stereo speakers should provide good surround sound, while Real Original Sound technology optimizes the sound for music, video or games. The Ultra Volume mode allows users to increase the speaker volume by up to 200%, ensuring great sound even in the noisiest environments, according to Oppo.
Software Color OS 13
ColorOS 13 (based on Android 13) improves efficiency and security. It includes features like FlexDrip for more efficient multitasking and Three-Finger Translate with Google Lens to translate text in a selected area of ​​a screenshot. In terms of privacy, Photo Information Protection can quickly erase metadata from photos and videos to prevent accidental leaks of sensitive private data.
