Order groceries online at Albert Heijn

The corona measures are causing great crowds at Albert Heijn. Delivery times fill up quickly in many places in the Netherlands. Albert Heijn itself says the following about this: ‘We are dealing with enormous pressure on ah.nl. Many customers would like to have their groceries delivered at home. To serve you better, you can temporarily order less far in advance. We do this to reduce the crowds on ah.nl. We continuously check whether we can add extra delivery racks and adjust our available times accordingly. We advise you to regularly check ah.nl for available times.’ (Albert Heijn, 20 October 2020)

Keep this in mind if you want to start ordering online now. Our tip: create an account and first check whether a suitable delivery time is available for you.

You can also do all your shopping online at Albert Heijn. Select what you need, choose a delivery day and time and pay on delivery at the door. It is very useful for those who find it more difficult to go to the store. All products from the supermarket can be ordered online. Plus Gall & Gall and Etos products.

• The minimum order amount is 50 euros.
• You can order 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
• Delivery times can be chosen yourself. They are between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m. Daily, except Sunday.
• You do pay service costs for this: a minimum of EUR 3.95 and a maximum of EUR 12.95.
• The delivery person carries the items to the kitchen.
• You can pay at home with your own debit card. The delivery person has a mobile card reader for that purpose.
• Empty bottles and crates are taken back

If you want to order groceries online, you must create an account. That goes in the following way:

• Go to the Albert Heijn website.
• click on login > login.
• Click under ‘New here?’ on Create a profile now.
• Fill in all details. Gender, first name, last name, zip code and house number. The rest of your address is automatically completed.
• Enter your email address and create a password.
• Enter your phone number. This is a required field.
• Enter your date of birth. This is also a required field.
• Under ‘Do you already have a bonus card?’, select the desired option.
• If you would like to receive the newsletter or e-mail with offers, please tick the box.
• click on Sign In.
• If you have chosen a Bonus card, you will be asked whether you want to make it personal. In that case click on Activate. If you don’t want that, click on To skip.
• The account is active. You can immediately start ordering. click on Continue with my online order.
• Albert Heijn will send you an email to confirm your account. You do not need to do anything with this email.

You can add products to the order list in many ways. For example via the offers that are directly visible on the page, via the menu or via the search bar. For each method, you add the desired product to the order list and then select the next product.

You can find experiments with products to your heart’s content and add them to the order list. Do not be afraid that you accidentally place an order, that is not possible.

To make it easier to find products, the site works with departments and shelves that are further subdivided. Follow the steps below to get an impression of how that works.

• Click on the menu at the top Products.
• The page that follows is divided into several sections. This makes it easier to find the right product. In this example we choose a random department and click on Potato, vegetable, fruit.
• Each department is divided into shelves. At ‘Potato, vegetables, fruit’ these include the shelves ‘Vegetables’, ‘Fruit’, ‘Herbs, garlic, peppers’ and ‘Fresh package’. Below you will find all kinds of products that can be found in ‘Potato, vegetables, fruit’. We choose a random shelf and click Fruit.
• We also find a subdivision into shelves on the page that follows. And products below that. We click again on a random shelf. apples in this case.
• In this way, you will eventually end up with a product that you want to buy. We choose a random product on the page again and click AH Elstar.
• We have now arrived at a product page. That of ‘AH Elstar’ in this case.

• You will see the price of the product next to the blue order button. Above, in light gray the weight and the kilo price. Further on the page all kinds of information about the product, such as nutritional values. If you want to place the product on the order list, click on the blue button add.
• The button has now changed and indicates the order quantity. Click on the plus sign if you want to order more of the product.
• Click on the trash can icon if you want to remove the product from the order list.

Always add products to the order list. Read more under the heading ‘Placing order’ how to complete the order.

A handy way to find products is via the search bar.

• At the top right of every page is a search bar that says “Search for.” Click on that.

• Type the name of the product you are looking for.
• Press the Enter key.
• All found products are listed. Click on the product you are looking for.
• Next to the blue order button is the price of the product. Above, in light gray the weight and the kilo price. Further on the page all kinds of information about the product, such as nutritional values. If you want to place the product on the order list, click on the blue button add.
• The button has now changed and indicates the order quantity. Click on the plus sign if you want to order more of the product.
• Click on the trash can icon if you want to remove the product from the order list.

Always add products to the order list. Read more under the heading ‘Placing order’ how to complete the order.

If you have a long order list, you will probably want to check what you need to add. That is possible at any time.

• At the top right is a shopping bag icon with a number in a black circle. That number is the number of products you have placed on the order list. Click on the shopping bag icon.
  
• The order list is displayed. The products you want to order are listed below each other.
  • If you do not want to order a product, click on the trash can icon next to that product.
  • If you want more of a product, click on the plus sign next to that product.
    
  • If you want less of a product, click on the minus sign.
• If you are still missing products, add them via the menu or via the search bar.

When the order list is complete, you can complete the order.

• Click on the shopping bag icon at the top right.
• The order list is displayed. Check if it is complete.
• If you don’t miss anything, click on the blue button at the top right To order.
• There are three options, the first is selected. If not, click AH Delivery service.
• The page now shows all available delivery times and the associated delivery costs. Times that are no longer available are also shown. Then it says ‘full’ below. Click on the desired delivery day.
• Select the desired delivery time.
• Check the order.
• click on Complete.
• click on Next one.
• Re-enter your password and click Further.
• You pay at the door with your bank card. click on Confirm order.
• You will receive a confirmation of the order in your e-mail. Your order is listed there again. Including the delivery date and time.
• The email also contains a button ‘Change order’. You can still change the order via this button, or simply via the site. Until which moment that is possible, you will find it in the mail and also on the site.

The Albert Heijn ordering site has a few handy options that make subsequent orders easier. Such as ‘Previously Bought’, ‘My Orders’ and ‘My Favorites’. You can find them by clicking on your own name at the top left, next to the AH logo.

You want to quickly find products that you order often. It’s very easy with ‘My Favorites’. Bundle products in a separate list. And use the lists to quickly create order lists. It works in the following way:

• An icon of a heart is visible in the top right corner of every product overview and on the information page of a product. Click on that heart. If you don’t have a single favorite product yet, you will see the message ‘You don’t have any lists yet’.
  
• click on New list.
• Come up with an appropriate name for the list. For example ‘basic groceries’ or ‘favorite fruit’ or whatever you find useful.
• click on Create.
• The next product that you want to save as a favorite can be added to the list you have created, or you can create a new list for it.

View the favorites in the following way:

• Click on next to the AH logo [uw naam] > My favorites.
• An overview of the lists you have created opens. Click on a list.
• All products on the list are listed below each other. Add all products to the order list by clicking add to cart.
• Order a selection of the products by first clicking deselect everything. Then place a checkmark next to the products you want to order.
• Finally click add to cart.

Under ‘My orders’ you will find both the orders that are still being delivered and the orders that have been delivered.

• Click on next to the AH logo [uw naam] > my orders.
• Click next to an order look at.
• You see the products from the order. If you want to add the complete order to the (new) order list, click on Put everything on my list. Please note, you are not only ordering the products again, but also the same quantities.
• Order one product from the old list by clicking on the plus sign next to the product. Make sure you order the right amount.
