Group the tiles in the Windows 10 Start menu. For example, put all games together. This makes it easier to find a program.
Floor tiles
The program name blocks in the Start menu are called tiles. Grouping these keeps the Start menu neatly sorted.
Group tiles by Theme
The tiles are automatically placed, but you can simply move them. This way you can easily create groups with a theme.
- Click on the Start menu.
- Click on a tile in the Start menu and hold down the left mouse button.
- Drag the tile to another group and release the mouse button.
- Put several tiles together in this way.
Done with the group? Then you can give the tile group a name.
Rename group
Easily edit the names of existing groups. For example, if you find the description ‘Explore’ too vague, give it a more appropriate name. Do this like this:
- Click on the name of a group.
- The background of the text turns white and the cursor appears behind the existing text. Press the Backspace key on the keyboard to remove the default name.
- Enter your own name.
- Press the Enter key to confirm the name.
Add new groups
With about fifteen regular-sized tiles, the Start menu seems to be packed. But adding and grouping tiles is still possible.
- Drag a tile or a program from the alphabetical program list to an empty spot in the Start menu.
- A bar appears for a moment across the width of the start menu. Release the mouse button.
- Hover over the empty space above the group of tiles.
- Click on the two hyphens.
- The background of the text turns white and the cursor appears. Type a custom name for the group of tiles.
- Press the Enter key or click outside the entry field to confirm the name.
The name has been added to the group.
