You probably only use a small part of what WhatsApp has to offer, but these handy iPhone tips will help you a lot!

8 useful iPhone tips for WhatsApp

WhatsApp has more to offer than you probably need, but that doesn’t mean all the extra features are unnecessary. These iPhone tips for WhatsApp will definitely come in handy at some point!

1. Chat with yourself

In WhatsApp you can chat not only with others, but also with yourself. This may seem nonsensical at first glance, but it can actually be useful. For example, you can use the chat with yourself as a diary or note app. Just send everything you don’t want to forget and you can easily find it again.

2. Share your location

There are more ways to share your location with someone, but it can also be done in real time in WhatsApp. Just tap the plus sign at the bottom left and choose ‘Location’. Then tap ‘Share live location’. Finally, you can indicate whether you want to do this for 15 minutes, 1 hour or 8 hours.

5. Send one-time photos and videos

You can also send photos and videos in WhatsApp that the recipient can only view once. He or she also cannot save or take screenshots of the photos or videos. It works like this:

  • Open the desired chat in WhatsApp;
  • Tap the camera at the bottom;
  • Take or open a photo;
  • Tap the ‘1’ to the right of the caption;

When the ‘1’ is in a solid circle, the photo is set for one-time viewing.

6. Pin favorite chats

You can pin up to three chats at the top of WhatsApp, so you always have quick access to them. This is useful, for example, for the chats you use most often. To do this, simply swipe the desired chat to the right and choose ‘Pin’ (see photo in tip 3).

7. Use text formatting

In WhatsApp you can easily make text bold, Italy, strikethrough and give it a fixed width (monospace). This is how you do it:

  • Bold: put a word or sentence between asterisks: *bold*
  • Italic: puts a word or sentence between underscores: _italic_
  • Delete: put a word or phrase between tildes: ~delete~
  • Monospace : places a word or sentence between three accent marks: ”’monospace”’
