Pagani presents the Huayra R. A monstrously strong force that far surpasses its spiritual predecessor, the famed Zonda R.
With the Zonda R, Pagani pushed an extreme circuit version of his normally very fast supercar fourteen years ago. The Italian brand is now repeating that trick with the successor to the Zonda, the Huayra. As with the Zonda R, Pagani has largely started with a clean slate for the Huayra R to arrive at this R version. Although the car can immediately be recognized as a solidly developed and full of spoilers hung Huayra, it is therefore more than a normal Huayra that has been tinkered with.
Pagani has built the monocoque of the Huayra R from a mix of carbon fiber and titanium and the car has of course also been stripped of ‘useless’ luxury for such a crack nose, so that the weight at 1,050 kilos is no less than 200 kilos lower than the regular and long sold out dense Huayra. The beating heart in the Huayra R is an atmospheric 6.0 V12, which delivers a whopping 850 hp in the Huayra R. This makes it 23 hp stronger than the previously most powerful Huayra, the Tricolore, and 100 hp stronger than the Zonda R. The maximum torque is 750 Nm, which is surprisingly relatively ‘little’, although of course he has to do without turbos.
Pagani says to have worked with the Mercedes-affiliated HWA on this special power source for the Huayra R, although that will of course be the well-known V12 that you will also find in the regular Huayra. The Huayra R, which makes the V12 scream up to 8,250rpm, sends the forces through a sequential six-speed gearbox to the 19-inch rear wheels with Pirelli P Zero rubbers on them. According to Pagani, the sound of the V12 in combination with the unique specially developed exhaust system should be reminiscent of the Formula 1 cars of the past. We can imagine that.
You will undoubtedly wonder what the results are for performance figures. Well, unfortunately Pagani is keeping that a secret for now. In any case, it does say that 1,000 kilos of downforce is generated at a speed of 320 km / h, so it achieves that speed anyway. However, that is not really a surprise, because the ordinary Huayra can do that too. We are curious if the Huayra R can reach 400 km / h, we would not be surprised. 0 to 100 km / h is probably beep in about 2 seconds. It has to be able to stand its ground in the corners, thanks to a special chassis, largely made of aluminum, electronically adjustable shock absorption, double whishbones and Brembo discs with six pistons per caliper.
Have you become greedy? Then unfortunately you probably have to win the lottery or come from a very good family, because Pagani asks no less than € 2.6 million excluding taxes for the Huayra R. Only 30 will be made.
