Buying something second-hand online has its drawbacks. For example, you will have to trust the seller that he will keep his promise. The new Pakkie app makes this process a bit safer.
Pakkie is a new app from the Netherlands, which is specially intended for the online sale of second-hand items. It does not matter whether you buy something from Marktplaats, Facebook Marketplace or another channel: Pakkie serves in all cases as a digital intermediary between buyer and seller.
It works as follows: if you sell something, you can create a payment request in the Pakkie app. By giving these to the buyer, he or she can entertain the sale amount including the shipping costs. The money does not end up directly in the seller’s account, but Pakkie continues to hold on to the package until the package has been delivered.
As soon as the money has been transferred, the seller will receive a shipping label that he can stick on the package and then immediately post it at a shipping point of PostNL, DHL or DPD. The buyer can then track the package and the seller knows when it has arrived. Once the package has arrived at its destination, Pakkie will automatically transfer the full amount within two days.
The app hopes to encourage sellers to use the service, because creating a shipping label in the app is very easy and does not cost anything extra. This way you can see the maximum weight and dimensions of a small and large package, so that you can easily determine which package is sufficient for you. For the buyer, the app is an extra safety net to prevent fraud and to get value for money.
Fast app with a smooth layout
The app has a clear design, and allows you to log in via Facebook, your Google account or your email. For the time being, you can send a maximum of products that you have sold for an amount of 500 euros or less. A small package costs 4.25 and a large package 6.95, just as with PostNL.
