When you paste a text from a website into a Word document, the font size, font and color are also copied. If you prefer to paste text without formatting in Word, you can do so in several ways.
For example, you can paste without formatting via a button in the ribbon. To do this, first click with the left mouse button on the position where the pasted text should be. Then click on the small arrow that appears in the tab Start under the icon pasten state. It’s easy to find, because it’s the first button from the left.
Some options will appear and there you choose the clipboard icon with the letter a. That’s the button Keep text only. You can also right-click in the text and then select the same button in the paste options. That sounds simple, but it can be done much faster.
Create new shortcut
A keyboard shortcut is much more convenient. Word does not have a standard shortcut for pasting without formatting, but you can create your own. Go to File and select there Options. In the window Word options select in the left column Customize ribbon.
When this window is open, you will see at the very bottom next to the reference Shortcuts the button To adjust.
To create your own keyboard shortcut, you must select a category in the first box here. Scroll down in the drop-down box and select the category All assignments. The second subject (Exercises) is arranged alphabetically. There you click on the assignment PasteTextOnly.
When that feature is selected, click in the box Press new hotkey and form the desired combination. Choose a combination that is not yet in use and that you will easily remember. Press the button Assign and close this window.
Finally, test the hotkey by copying and pasting a piece of a web page with the new hotkey! You can also find more useful tips for Office in this Working with Word, Excel and PowerPoint course.
