Peugeot 4008 completely up to date again

Earlier this year Peugeot carried out a facelift on its two SUVs: the 3008 and 5008. Now the 4008 is completely up to date again, because that SUV from Peugeot has also been updated inside and out.

‘Wait a minute’, we hear you think. “This is a 3008, right?”. True, but not quite. The 4008 that Peugeot currently produces is an extended version of the car we know in Europe as 3008. The 4008, delivered only in China, is now undergoing the same facelift that Sochaux carried out earlier on the 3008 and 5008.

Like the 3008 and 5008, the Chinese 4008 gets a completely new front. The grille also extends optically on the 4008 under the headlights and now takes a ‘bite’ from it. Also new for the 4008 are the now familiar LED lighting from the headlights into the bumper. With a length of 4.51 meters, the Peugeot 4008 is about 6 centimeters longer than the 3008 known here. The wheelbase of the car is also 6 centimeters longer and is 2.73 meters. Peugeot supplies the 4008 in China in addition to the 5008. The 5008 is optically identical to the version that is delivered here.

In Europe, we may know the 4008 model name mainly from the only member of an old SUV triplet from Peugeot, Citroën and Mitsubishi not supplied in the Netherlands. Mitsubishi had (and has) the ASX, Citroen the C4 Aircross and Peugeot the 4008. Fun fact: Peugeot also sells an SUV in China called the 3008 in addition to the 4008. That Chinese Peugeot 3008 is nothing more than a modified version of the previous generation 3008 that disappeared from the market in Europe 2016.
