French beauty with the biggest engine
According to many, the Peugeot 406 Coupé is one of the most successful Peugeots ever. It is still a special appearance, even though it is getting older. With the 3.0 V6 it is also a nice and smooth car and now there is one for sale.
Peugeot and Pininfarina have an extensive history together, but in 1997 the collaboration came to one of its high points. Then the Peugeot 406 Coupé appeared and it was immediately labeled as one poor man’s Ferrari. Based on an ordinary middle class car, Peugeot suddenly had a real taste maker. The fact that he shared his basis with the regular 406 was especially not to be missed in the interior and that was seen as a bit of a downside of the 406 Coupé. Also, due to its humble origins, it may not always live up to what you would expect based on its sporty lines. With the largest engine, the 3.0 V6, the recipe was all in all the best. That is also the version that is also the most popular as a youngtimer today. This copy from 1998 has that engine in the front and fortunately it is also linked to a manual gearbox.
It is still a fresh appearance, especially in the light blue with the original wheels underneath. A handsome copy, moreover, judging by the photos. That applies especially to the exterior, because in the 406 Coupé it looks a bit less timeless. Not only because of the typical 90s print on the fabric cover, but also because of its condition. That’s too bad. Actually, this 406 Coupé, especially with the thickest engine, would deserve leather-covered seats.
What speaks specifically for this 406 Coupé is that the car has only had one private owner. You heard that right; the first owner recently relinquished it, after more than 25 years. If that wasn’t true love. The car has driven more than 230,000 km in that period, which is a decent mileage considering its age. Not exactly little and yet certainly not a stand where you have to worry too much about the state of the technology. The fact that the car has been dealer maintained and that this appears to be well documented is an important plus. With an asking price of €4,250, it is certainly not the cheapest 406 Coupé, although we think it is a reasonable asking price given the history and the V6.
