Peugeot is not working on street version of hypercar

Peugeot has announced that it has no plans to transition its LMH hypercar or parts thereof to a production model for public roads.

In the run-up to this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans, Peugeot pulled the curtain on a hypercar concept. Peugeot will return to Le Mans and the WEC in 2022, in the newly established LMH class. Sochaux is preparing a hypercar with 680 hp power for this. Due to homologation obligations, there was the hope that we would also see something of this in street-legal Peugeots, but that is not the case. “We’re entering the Le Mans Hypercar category with a 100 percent racing prototype. We don’t need to build a street version of our race car or make any kind of connection with road cars to get the car homologated,” CarThrottle quotes a statement from. Peugeot.

Recently, more details about the French brand’s LMH car became known. A brand new 2.6-liter V6 with two turbos is the beating heart. This is supported by an MGU that can deliver 272 hp. The system power comes out at 680 hp, although the V6 can also temporarily supply that power independently without the help of the MGU. On the straight stretches of Le Mans, the powertrain may even temporarily take 700 hp. Although enthusiasts were undoubtedly hoping for the arrival of an extremely powerful Peugeot for the public road, we should not expect these impressive figures there.
