Philips Hue are the lamps that transform your living room into a party. Every year new models come onto the market, but which ones are really worth it? We looked it up for you.
There aren’t many smart home devices as well-known and globally acclaimed as Philips Hue’s smart lighting. Since 2012, the Dutch Signify has released a wide range of smart light bulbs for indoor and outdoor use. Most lamps are easy to connect to each other thanks to the Hue app. In the future, it may even be possible to connect Philips Hue to devices from another manufacturer.
These are the 5 best Philips Hue lamps of the moment
With so many products, it is quite a job to dig through the Philips Hue catalog. Fortunately, your friends at One More Thing have already done this for you. The lamps below are of high quality and have been extensively tested by experts. They are all easy to use for beginners.
1. Hue White & Color Ambiance
Available in a two-pack, this lamp is suitable for any room in your home and replaces a standard A19 lamp. What makes this Philips Hue bulb really great is that you can connect it directly to your smartphone via Bluetooth. Ideal for novice users. You can add and control up to 10 lights in the same room via the Bluetooth app. Once you’re ready for an upgrade, grab the Hue Bridge and add up to 50 other Hue lights.
Like all Hue lights, you can create timers and routines. You can also control the lamp with your voice via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. With a lifespan of 25,000 hours, the 9.5 watt, 800 lumen bulbs are Energy Star certified. They are a wonderful addition to any living room.

2. Philips Hue White and Color Ambiance Starter Kit
As far as starter kits go, this one is impressive. The set comes with four of Philips’ popular White and Color Ambiance LED bulbs and a smart hub. All previously mentioned products are sold for about 50 euros each. That means that with this kit you not only give your smart home a flying start, but you also save a lot of money.
The lamps fit into most standard sockets and feature over 16 million colors and shades. You can program them in the Philips Hue app to create moods. Philips claims that these lamps last 25,000 hours. So you can leave the lamps on for four years (!) in a row. Since no one (hopefully) does, this is not guaranteed. With the included hub you can connect up to 50 Philips Hue devices.

3. Philips Hue White Ambiance Bulb
We just said that a Philips Hue hub can support up to 50 lights. While you probably won’t need that many in your home, chances are you’ll need to replace a light bulb on a regular basis. Luckily, you can pick up these cheaper White Ambiance bulbs in bundles. This is the lamp for you if you want cool features, but don’t need all the beautiful color combinations and scenes.
The lamps are ideal as kitchen or hallway lighting. They are extremely easy to set up in the Hue app and work both via Bluetooth and with a hub. Although the lamps cannot change color, you can choose from more than 50,000 shades of white light.

4. Play White & Color Smart Light
Technically, this is not a “lamp”, but a unique lighting product that is worth a try. The Philips Hue Play White is a self-contained bar that you can place on the floor or behind a cabinet for striking accent lighting.
One of the best things about the Play Bars is how easy they are to assemble. With the included clips and double-sided tape, they are securely attached in no time. You can connect up to three of them to the same power supply for an immersive experience. The light strip is ideal during gaming, movie nights or parties. With 16 million different colors you can organize an unforgettable house party.

5. Philips Hue Go
This little Philips Hue bulb is one of our absolute favorites because it’s versatile and portable. It is ideal that you can disconnect the lamp and take it with you wherever you go. All you have to do is press the button on the back of the lamp.
With the Philips Hue Go you have millions of lighting options. Battery life is optimized for up to 18 hours of unplugged use. This is just not always the same. One color scenario requires more energy than the other. The biggest drawback of this small light is the price. If you want a portable color-changing lamp, there are certainly cheaper options available.
