Just out of general interest, always look at plastic packaging to see which plastic it is.
But I don’t know the abbreviation PEL and I can’t find it on the net. In this case it is a lid made of a white flexible plastic of a glass jar. Above PEL is also the recycling sign with the number 4. The well-known symbol for “suitable for foodstuffs” is also included.
Can someone explain this to me?
With thanks,

Answer
Hi Luke,
The recycling code 4 stands for low-density polyethylene (LDPE or also PE-LD). For some obscure reason, the “D” has been dropped. This is indeed a flexible plastic.
