Polestar heads for the Arctic Circle and takes on a Polestar 2 that must be able to withstand the extreme conditions. The Polestar 2 ‘Arctic Circle’ is an elevated and modified one-off specifically designed for winter rallies.

The ‘Arctic Circle’ is the brainchild of Joakim Rydholm, who as chief chassis engineer is responsible for the driving dynamics of new Polestar models. Joakim used his rally experience to create this special Polestar 2. He took a Polestar 2 Long Range Dual Motor with Performance Pack as the basis, but increased the car by 30 mm. The ‘Artic Circle’ rolls on 19-inch rally wheels from OZ Racing, surrounded by special winter tires with 4 mm metal studs. The power of the Polestar 2 was increased to 476 hp and 680 Nm of torque. This means that the ice racer has as many electrical muscles as the more powerful 2 that the brand took to Goodwood last year.

To improve handling on snow and ice, the special Polestar’s suspension is 30 percent softer and the Öhlins dampers have been tuned accordingly. Special struts at the front and rear should contribute to extra high torsional stiffness and faster steering response. Visibility in the dark should not be a problem due to the four large LED spotlights, the front bumper also has a special carbon protection plate. The ‘Arctic Circle’ is painted in a matt gray and white color scheme. The interior features custom Recaro bucket seats with ‘Swedish gold’ details. If, despite everything, you do get stuck, you can free yourself with the carbon shovel that is clicked into the trunk.

For those who like the ‘Arctic Circle’ for winter sports, there is less good news. Polestar is not taking it into production. It is conceivable that the 476 hp powertrain will still find its way to the production stage, especially since Polestar has already introduced it to the public. In addition, the ‘Arctic Circle’ also has a test version of launch control on board, which can be activated via the steering paddles. Perhaps the production models will have that option at a later stage.
