Polestar 2 becomes Polestar 7

Logical but confusing

Polestar 2

The Polestar 2 is now about four years old and has at least a few more years to go. The Polestar 2 will be replaced around 2027, but not a new Polestar 2!

Polestar causes some confusion with the naming of its models. For example, although its name suggests otherwise, the Polestar 3 stands above the Polestar 4. The smaller and lower Polestar 4 has been given the number 4 because it is the fourth model that the brand launched. For example, the Polestar 2 is the second model launched after the 1 and the 3 is the third. In the future, Polestar’s naming will become even more confusing.

The Polestar 2 will be replaced around 2027 – when the model is about seven years old – by… the Polestar 7. This is what none other than Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath told the English Autocar. The Polestar 2 will therefore not be succeeded by a new Polestar 2 in three years’ time. However, the positioning of the Polestar 7 in the Polestar hierarchy does not seem much different from that of the current 2, although it is not yet clear in what form the Polestar will take. is cast exactly. The Polestar 7 will logically be preceded by the Polestar 5 and 6. The first will be a sleek, stretched EV, the 6 an open fun machine.

Since the Dutch market introduction of the 2, almost 10,000 copies have been registered in the Netherlands. In 2020, the Polestar 2 had its best sales year to date. Nearly 3,000 units were then registered. In 2021, the registration counter fell to 2,558 units and in 2022, registrations fell to 2,183 units. Last year, 1,940 Polestars 2 were registered.
