Less and more for less
The electric Polestar 3 has been on the price list for some time as a Long Range Dual Motor with and without a Performance Pack. The Long Range Single Motor will be added very soon. It is slower, but less expensive and offers a greater range. AutoWeek can report this before Polestar itself makes it public. We even already have the Dutch prices.
Although the Polestar 3 is not yet available, the electric SUV has been available to order for some time. Until now, you could only choose from the Long Range Dual Motor and the Long Range Dual Motor with Performance Pack. These four-wheel drive versions cost €86,590 and €93,550 respectively. Is that too much of a good thing for you and are you just as satisfied with less? Then we have good news. AutoWeek can exclusively report that the Polestar 3 will also come to the Netherlands as a Long Range Single Motor.
The Polestar 3 Long Range Single Motor has the 111 kWh battery pack, just like the Long Range Dual Motor versions, but as its name indicates, it does not have two electric motors and therefore does not have four-wheel drive. Instead, it is a rear-wheel drive with a 299 hp electric motor on the rear axle. This helps the Polestar 3 Long Range Single Motor reach a speed of 100 km/h from a standstill in 7.8 seconds. This makes it less fast than the Long Range Dual Motor (5.0 s) and the Long Range Dual Motor with Performance Pack (4.7 s). The top speed is also lower. While the Dual Motor versions can both reach a speed of 210 km/h, the Polestar 3 Long Range Single Motor has a top speed of 180 km/h.
Up to 650 kilometers of range
The Polestar 3 Long Range Single Motor does win over its more powerful alternatives in terms of range. It has a range of 650 kilometers and on a full battery it can go further than the Long Range Dual Motor (631 kilometers) and Long Range Dual Motor with Performance Pack (561 kilometers).
You make more profit when purchasing. The tax price of the Polestar 3 Long Range Single Motor is €78,500. If we add the preparation costs, which amount to €1,450 for the Long Range Dual Motor versions, we arrive at a starting price of €79,950. This makes it €7,000 less expensive than the Polestar 3 Long Range Dual Motor. The more lavishly equipped Polestar 3 Long Range Single Motor ‘Pilot Plus’ – which also appears to have the optional Pilot Pack and Plus Pack on board for the Dual Motor flavors – has a tax price of €84,500 and would include roadworthy costs, so a starting price have €85,950.
The first copies of the Polestar 3 Long Range Dual Motor will be delivered around October-November. It is not yet known when the Long Range Single Motor versions will be delivered.
