Although in modern cars you can do almost everything via the multimedia screen, something as ‘basic’ as a web browser is not exactly commonplace yet. That’s about to change at Polestar.
Most modern cars with a large multimedia screen offer you many options. In addition to navigation and vehicle information, you can often call up your music, play games, get updates for your car and even watch series. If you want an answer to a question that bothers you, you can often get an answer via a voice assistant. Strangely enough, what hasn’t really been integrated into cars yet is a web browser that gives you all the freedom to scour the internet. Web browser Vivaldi is now responding to this together with Polestar.
According to Polestar and Vivaldi, surfing the web on your infotainment screen with the browser will be as easy as on a phone or tablet. You can use the browser in full screen and also work with tabs. The browser was developed by the Norwegian Vivaldi in collaboration with Polestar and naturally works hand in hand with Android Automotive. Although it seems to be an exclusive app for Polestar for the time being, we wouldn’t be surprised if it also becomes available at sister brand Volvo very soon. Other manufacturers who work or will work with Android Automotive are probably queuing up to make it available in their models as well.
