‘Polestar is cutting its workforce due to disappointing demand’

Bad news for about 15 percent of Polestar’s employee base. Sales are somewhat disappointing and that is why Polestar is forced to continue with fewer employees.

Various car manufacturers see demand for electric cars growing less rapidly than expected and are therefore taking action. Now it has also happened at Polestar. According to Reuters around 450 Polestar employees worldwide will soon no longer have to come. That amounts to roughly 15 percent of Polestar’s employee base.

The medium understands from Polestar that this decision was made due to ‘challenging market conditions’. Polestar sold 54,600 cars worldwide last year, 6 percent more than a year earlier. When presenting its annual figures earlier this month, Polestar warned that it must ‘protect its brand position in a still challenging market’.

The hope is that by expanding the model range, Polestar will see its sales grow faster again. However, the Polestar 5 and Polestar 6 will probably not produce large numbers, that will mainly be the responsibility of the Polestar 3 and Polestar 4 and of course the 2 is still present.
