Eneos SEMA Show Porsche 911 GT3 STIE

Whatever Porsche changes to the 911, the model always has a recognizable shape. As well as a boxer engine. What seems? The 911 also appears to be able to handle a boxer engine from another manufacturer. We welcome: a Porsche 911 with a boxer engine from Subaru!

The SEMA Show is in full swing in Las Vegas, which means that not only do car manufacturers show what sports packages they have in store, but also the fierce creations of external parties fly around your ears. The Japanese oil producer Eneos offers a very striking Porsche 911 of the 997 generation. We are presented with a 911 GT3 from 2007 that is equipped with a livery strongly reminiscent of Subaru’s rally monsters of the past, but that’s not the only link between this 911 and the Japanese brand. In the back is not a six-cylinder boxer engine from Porsche, but a Subaru copy!

Eneos has seized a 2007-built Porsche 911 that was involved in an accident. The crashed 911 no longer had a powertrain, so Eneos put a machine from its own country in it. In the back is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder boxer engine from Subaru, more precisely the EJ25 machine from the 2008 Impreza STi. That block is 77 kilograms lighter than the original six-cylinder boxer engine. Eneos has screwed on a solid turbo from BorgWarner and has, among other things, adapted the fuel pump and the injectors. The result is a Porsche 911 with a 550 hp Subaru heart that sends its power to the rear wheels via a manual six-speed Subaru gearbox. Bizarre? Sure, but that doesn’t make it any less fun!

But it doesn’t stop with the special Porsche 911. Eneos is taking a whole bunch of other attention grabbers to Las Vegas. Including a Nissan Frontier Race Truck that has a 600 hp boosted version of the normally 400 hp six-cylinder engine from the new Nissan Z. The Tesla Model 3 presented earlier this year and prepared for Pikes Peak will also be on the SEMA exhibition floor. Eneos also conjures up a 1971 Datsun 521 pick-up from the top hat of which it has replaced almost all technical parts, although the original 1.6 with carburettors is retained. Thanks to adjustments, that machine is now about 96 hp strong.
