Porsche 911 GT3 Touring: subtly hardcore

Porsche 911 GT3 Touring: subtly hardcore

Ask a list of Porsche enthusiasts what their favorite modern 911 is, and chances are you’ll hear ‘GT3 with Touring Package’ several times. Good news: he’s back.

The Porsche 911 GT3 Touring, as the car is now officially called, is in short the subtle version of the 911 GT3. It’s a GT3 with less visible carbon, a less ‘racy’ look and above all without that gigantic rear wing that is so characteristic of the most hardcore 911. Also the ‘nip’ underneath is missing on the GT3 Touring, which instead features a automatic folding spoiler and a much more modest rear deck.

more chic

Elsewhere, the GT3 Touring also gets a much more chic sauce. As with the previous GT3 Touring, we note, for example, an aluminum window frame and silver wheels, although buyers can deviate from that if desired. The Touring also gets more injected elements, including around the diffuser and in the central part of the nose.

At the same time, it is still recognizable to the connoisseur as a GT3, among other things because of the front and rear bumpers, the central exhaust and also the striking openings in the front cover. Compared to the regular GT3, more leather has been used in the interior, but Porsche emphasizes that all (sporty) options that are available for the GT3 are also available on the Touring.

Manual or PDK

Technically, the Touring is identical to any other GT3. This means that this version also has a naturally aspirated, 510 hp 4.0, which gives the winged GT3 a 0-100 sprint of 3.4 seconds and a top of 320 km/h. What is special is that both gearbox options are also transferred to the Touring, so that this stylish sportsman is also available with a PDK automatic transmission for the first time. Those who pay €238,800 can choose, because Porsche does not charge anything extra for that PDK. Strikingly enough, at this price point, the Touring is slightly less expensive than the conventional GT3, which is priced at €239,200 at the time of writing.

The Touring Package was introduced in 2017 on the 991 version of the 911 (the previous one) and brought relief when a similarly styled 911 R was not within reach.
