Porsche just can’t stop with the 992 generation of the 911. It is now working on the 911 ST, a likely limited available lighter version based on the GT3 Touring.
Do you no longer know which variants there are of the current Porsche 911? You are undoubtedly not alone in this. The range continues to grow happily, because here we see the 911 ST. The what? Well, more than 50 years ago there was already an extra light 911 ST intended for racing and Porsche pays a modern tribute to it. We see that car driving here. After the 911 Targa 4S and the 911 Sport Classic, the third in a series of four special 911s that hark back to the past.
Those who love the Porsche 911 GT3 Touring will undoubtedly also love the 911 ST. The GT3 Touring, already a somewhat stripped-down 911 GT3, has been stripped even further. After all, the 911 ST of yesteryear was the lightest 911 of its time and logically the modern 911 ST will be too. So expect extensive use of carbon fiber and a pretty spartan interior for 911 standards. The most obvious exterior difference from the GT3 Touring is the roof; there are two ‘bumps’ in it. The 911 ST also has a roll cage. In the back is probably, just like in the GT3, the naturally aspirated 4.0 six-cylinder boxer engine that sends at least 510 hp to the rear wheels. We expect the unveiling this year.
