Porsche 911 Targa 4S as Heritage Design Edition

If you as a car manufacturer have a rich history, you better make good use of it now and then. This is how Porsche lifts the brand new 911 Targa 4S as a Heritage Design Edition, a special edition of the new 911 Targa, which is topped with historically sound details.

The brand new Porsche 911 Targa has only just been released, or Zuffenhausen is already introducing a very special version of the model. It is the Targa 4S, the variant with a 450 hp blown 3.0-liter six-cylinder boxer engine, which is carried out as a Heritage Design Edition.

This Heritage Design Edition has the cherry red paint finish from Porsche Exclusive, although four other shades are also available. The 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition is further decorated with gold-colored logos in both interior and exterior, but it doesn’t stop there. For example, Porsche places a striking Heritage badge on the tailgate grille, a design element that refers to the emblems Porsche 356 owners once received if their car had crossed the 100,000 kilometer mark. Another nice detail: the Porsche logos, which are glued to the front cover, the steering wheel, the hub caps and the key, are equipped with the 1963 logo. These labels can also be found on the headrests. The special 911 stands on special 20- and 21-inch light metal behind which black calipers are hidden.

The interior of this limited 911 Targa 4S is even more eccentric. The interior is executed in a combination of burgundy and beige leather, although the combination of burgundy and black is also available. Porsche applies corduroy to finish the door panels and seat center panels, a historically sound material that the brand also used in the 356 in the 1950s. The interior, which is fully upholstered in Porsche Exclusive leather, is further decorated with door sills in which the serial number of the special version is pressed.

Porsche will produce a total of 992 copies of the 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition. That number is of course a reference to the model code of the current 911 generation. In September, the special version can be admired in the Netherlands. The starting price of the manual version is set at € 222,600. Prefer the PDK machine? In that case Porsche asks € 225,900. Those who order one will receive a special watch that contains style elements from both the 356 and 911 Targa. It does not end with this one Heritage Design Edition. Porsche has three other variants overloaded with classic details in the pipeline. In time, some design details of the special editions can also be ordered for ‘normal’ 911s.
