Porsche 944 (1985) – Enthusiast wanted

Making dreams of old Porsches come true with a budget that doesn’t even go to 20,000 euros is difficult. Okay, an early Cayenne or Panamera will do, but a lot of people already dream of that? For this second episode of ‘fancier wanted’ we came across a Porsche 944 from 1985 for less than 15,000 euros. One with original Dutch registration and enthusiasts usually go well on that.

The Porsche 944 is such a wonderful 90s sports car. So with flip-up headlights. The model came on the market in 1981 as a thicker brother of the 924. The 944 strongly resembles that, but the wider flared wheel arches also make it look thicker, and that also applies to the four-cylinder that you will find in the nose. You couldn’t get the 944 with less than the 163 hp that this classic also has. That power comes from a 2.5-litre. That’s also a large four-cylinder you might think, but in the successor to the 944, the 968, the volume even increased to 3.0 liters.

This is a 944 with the newer dashboard, which still looks quite timeless even after 36 years. It should be your thing for the brown fabric, but this Porsche is just nice and original and that color just belongs to that era. Completely original? We know those wheels from the 944 Turbo, but it is an option that you could also take on a normal 944 at the time. The real enthusiast will probably remove that typical 90s radio and look for a beautiful Becker unit. . This 944 has a removable roof panel. They called it a Targa roof, but the panel is not really big, especially compared to that of a 911 Targa.

The mileage is 216,000, but that’s not very much for a Porsche. The 163 hp 2.5 must be able to sprint the 944 from 0 to 100 in 8.4 seconds. That was fast in those days, now you can easily keep up with traffic. For almost 14,000 euros, this seems like an enthusiast’s car that you can enjoy for a long time to come.
