Porsche extends the range of Cayenne plug-ins

Porsche is expanding the battery pack for the plug-in hybrid versions of the Cayenne. Both the E-Hybrid and the Turbo S E-Hybrid of the Cayenne and Cayenne Coupé will thus have a larger electric driving range.

Porsche recently brought a series of plug-in hybrids to the delivery range of the facelifted Panamera and Panamera Sport Turismo, plug-in versions that already existed before the at-point session and are now completely fresh again. The renewed plug-in hybrid variants benefited, among other things, a larger battery pack and today Porsche is using the same brush of innovation for the Cayenne. The battery pack of both the Cayennes E-Hybrid and the Turbo S E-Hybrid will be increased from 14.1 kWh to 17.9 kWh. This of course has a positive effect on the electrical range of the plug-ins.

The Cayenne and Cayenne Coupé E-Hybrid have a powertrain consisting of a 340 hp 3.0 V6, a machine that works together with a 136 hp electric motor that brings the system power to 462 hp. Thanks to the 17.9 kWh instead of 14.1 kWh battery pack, the Cayennes E-Hybrid can now travel 48 kilometers on a charge. The most powerful Cayenne with plug is the Turbo S E-Hybrid. This top version has a 550 hp 4.0 V8 that, thanks to the same 136 hp electric motor as in the E-Hybrids, provides a system power of 680 hp. These plug-in hybrid Cayennes are now 42 kilometers away on one battery charge.

Porsche says it has adjusted the driving modes in the standard Sport Chrono package, among other things. The target charge level of the E-Charge mode, the position in which the battery pack is charged by the petrol engine while driving, has been reduced from 100 to 80 percent. According to Porsche, this charges the battery more efficiently. In Sport and Sport Plus modes, the battery pack is always charged to a minimum.
