The son of Porsche tuner Uwe Gemballa is still working on his first Porsche-based creation. This will be a special off-road version of the Porsche 911. It is now known that Ruf will also join the project.
The apple does not fall far from the tree, it turns out. Marc Philipp Gemballa, the son of the murdered Porsche tuner Uwe Gemballa, prepares his first thoroughly refurbished Porsche 911. Under the name Project Sandbox, a 911 Turbo S of the current generation is being converted into something very special. Based on the teaser record from last May, we can expect a converted 911 with a kind of 959-like rear, which also stands on huge wheels. In any case, it looks promising, unless of course you think this is pure sacrilege.
Gemballa junior promises that the car can hold its own in rough terrain and that of course also includes a power upgrade. Gemballa has convinced none other than Alois Ruf for this. The owner of the famous Porsche tuner has commissioned his company to give the six-cylinder boxer engine of the 911 Turbo S a boost. Not that it was much short, but in Gemballa’s car it is good for 752 hp and a maximum torque of 930 Nm. Respectively about 100 hp and 130 Nm more.
One of the cars that serve as the basis for the project can probably be seen in photo 2, behind Gemballa, Ruf and his wife. In total, 40 Porsches 911 Turbo S must be converted into the ‘Sandbox’. Next spring, Gemballa junior will unveil the car and says the first ten ‘Launch Editions’ have already been sold. So still 30 pieces to go. We are curious. By the way, you have to see this completely separate from the still existing tuner Gemballa. That company, which stems from the company of Gemballa senior, is no longer related in any way to Marc Philipp Gemballa.
