Porsche is about to expand the 911 family with a new variant. Anyone familiar with the current 911 offer will also know that the GT3 version is still missing. Let that just be the car that Porsche will soon release in the land of supercars.
Anyone in the market for a new Porsche 911 and not making a choice based on the purchase price will undoubtedly find themselves in a difficult position. After all, the 911 is already available in many flavors, from Carrera (S) to Carrera 4S and from Turbo to Turbo S. You want a Targa? Can be arranged as well as a Cabriolet or Coupé. The 911 range will eventually be expanded with a GTS variant and of course with the hard-wearing GT3, GT3 RS and GT2 RS. It is the GT3 that Porsche will present on February 16, a winged newcomer entering another round of teaser today.
Until the arrival of the GT3 RS, the soon-to-be new 911 GT3 may call itself the king of the 911 range. At least, on a sports level. In terms of power, the car does not come close to the 581 hp and 650 hp 911 Turbo and Turbo S, although these are versions of a different caliber. Those with a 3.8-liter blown six-cylinder boxer engine are a lot more obese than the soon-to-be-new GT3 due to their four-wheel drive. The GT3 is the turbo-free version of the 911 family, a super-hard variant where the focus is much more than with its 911 Turbo brothers on dynamics, aerodynamics and track use. The new 911 GT3 may receive the same 4.0 as the 911 GT3 Cup, a racing version of the current 911 with 510 hp and 470 Nm. However, we are not entirely sure.
This teaser video shows, among other things, the buttocks of the 911 GT3. The 911 GT3 appears to have a so-called swan neckspoiler, a rear spoiler that is actually attached at the top to the brackets installed in front of it. The 911 RSR, a long-distance racer based on the previous 911, unveiled in 2019, had a similar example at the top of its rear. Next week we will know all about the new 911 GT3.
