‘Porsche starts internal investigation into new manipulations’

According to German media, the alarm bells have gone off again at Porsche: the manufacturer has started a new internal investigation because of suspicions about software manipulation.

That’s what Automotive News Europe says based on the Bild am Sonntag. Porsche would have come across things during its own inspections, so it is now starting a new internal investigation. According to German media, the sports car manufacturer has already informed the watchdog Kraftfart Budesambt (KBA), American governments and the Stuttgart prosecutor’s office about the new investigation.

Porsche may have encountered manipulations of the hardware and software of existing models. These would cover the exhaust system and other engine parts. “As part of such internal investigations, Porsche has identified issues and, as in the past, proactively informed the authorities,” said a Porsche spokesman. BamS are engines used in the Panamera and 911 models between 2008 and 2013. Conclusions of the internal investigation may follow soon.

Porsche was previously involved in investigations into cheating software. Then the brand was part of Volkswagens diesel scandal.
