There is no shortage of derivatives and versions in the Porsche model range. This time the Taycan family gets a big expansion. The Taycan Sport Turismo, introduced at the end of last year as a GTS, will soon be available in four other engine versions.
We can well imagine that you start to feel dizzy when looking through the Porsche model range. Not only does Porsche have various derivatives of models, there is also a whole range of versions. You have Porsche 911 as a Coupé, Cabrio or Targa, but each of those variants also as Carrera S, Turbo S and so on. The delivery range of the electric Porsche Taycan is also taking on megalomaniac proportions. The ‘low’ regular Taycan was later joined by the wider Taycan Cross Turismo with plastic wheel arch edges. That is a station wagon-like variant that received the Sport Turismo at the end of October. The Taycan Sport Turismo was currently only available as a GTS, but Porsche is now also bringing the other engine versions known from the Taycan and Taycan Cross Turismo to the model. Are we still there?
Porsche is expanding the delivery range of the Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo with an unnamed basic model, but also with the 4S, Turbo and Turbo S. For the sake of clarity, the variants in a nutshell.
Taycan Sport Turismo
We start with the base model called Taycan Sport Turismo. That rear-wheel drive variant is 326 hp strong and pumps a maximum of 408 hp to the rear wheels in overboost mode. In principle, this version has the 79 kWh battery. It is also available with 93.4 kWh Performance battery Plus. If you order the nameless Taycan Sport Turismo with that battery pack, your right foot will have 380 hp and in overboost mode even 476 hp. Interesting: the Taycan Cross Turismo is not available as a rear-wheel drive basic version, it is, after all, the Cross variant with adventurous decoration. The Taycan Sport Turismo in turn has to do without an S-less ‘4 Sport Turismo’, a version that is at the bottom of the price list with the Taycan Cross Turismo.
Taycan 4S Sport Turismo
The four-wheel drive Taycan 4S Sport Turismo has an in principle 435 hp powertrain that brings 490 hp to the asphalt in overboost position. Also in this case you have the 79 kWh battery. If you check the Performance battery Plus on the order list, you will receive the 93.4 kWh battery and more power. With this larger battery pack, the Taycan 4S Sport Turismo delivers no less than 490 hp and even kicks it up to 571 hp in overboost mode. Remarkably enough, the Taycan 4S is also the version with the largest range. It squeezes a maximum of 498 kilometers of range from its 93.4 kWh battery. How is that possible? The thermal management of the four-wheel drive Taycans is just as efficient as that of the rear-wheel drive variant.
A step above the Taycan 4S is the Taycan GTS Sport Turismo presented in November 2021. That flavor is good for 517 hp and treats you to 598 hp in overboost mode. The GTS always has the largest battery pack.
Taycan Turbo Sport Turismo
That ‘Turbo’ nowadays no longer always stands for a turbocharger, Porsche proves with the Taycan. The addition ‘Turbo’ refers purely to its placement in the range. Like the eponymous versions of the 911, the Turbo Sport Turismo operates quite high in the Taycan regions. The four-wheel drive already has 625 hp in the base and whoever squeezes everything out of the drivetrain in an overboost position will get a kick in his back from 680 electric horses.
Taycan Turbo S Sport Turismo
There is always boss above boss. Thus, the Taycan Turbo Sport Turismo has to recognize its superior in the Taycan Turbo S Sport Turismo. With its 625 hp drivetrain you drive almost everything and everyone the snot in front of the eyes. If you give it up, the Taycan Turbo S Sport Turismo with 761 (!) electric horses tries to degrade the asphalt to grit.
Prices for the Dutch market will be announced shortly. The price list of the Taycan Cross Turismo starts at the €99,500 costing 4. The 4S Cross Turismo changes hands from €116,000. We expect the price of the 4S Sport Turismo to be slightly below that.
