Important news for trend watchers: Porsche sold three times as many cars via the internet in 2021 as in 2020. Also important: there are still not many cars.
In 2021, a total of 5,800 people clicked on the Porsche website on ‘continue to online order’ for a new or used car. That’s a big increase compared to the 1,700 Porsches that found an owner online in 2020, but still a very small part of the total. Based on the more than 300,000 cars that Porsche sold in 2021, this is less than 2 percent. Moreover, we wrongly assume that all Porsches purchased online were new. That is not the case, because Porsche only sells existing cars via the internet. This may concern new stock models, but also used ones.
At the same time, the online sales tool Porsche delivers more than just direct sales figures. According to the brand, the sales branch of the website also delivered 110,000 leads, 61 percent more than before.
