The Pixo 1.0 is that economical

In the ‘Practical experience’ section we saw that the virtually forgotten Nissan Pixo is an excellent choice in the compact segment. We did not take one factor into account in that article, consumption. We will come back to that now. Can the Nissan Pixo also compete in this area with competitors such as the Toyota Aygo, Citroën C1 and Peugeot 107/108?
Nissan Pixo drivers have little choice. The only available engine was a 1.0-liter three-cylinder with 68 hp, completely in line with the competition. Fifteen drivers kept track of fuel consumption in the AutoWeek Consumption Monitor. Not as much as with popular competitors such as the Toyota Aygo, but enough to get a good idea of it.
Consumption Nissan Pixo 1.0
Fortunately for the Pixo, practical consumption appears to be in line with the competition. Pixo drivers ‘do’ an average of 1 in 18.5 (5.4 l/100 km), with a bandwidth varying from 1 in 21.2 (4.7 l/100 km) to 1 in 14.9 (6, 7 l/100 km). The most economical driver did his best on this consumption for 56,170 km, for the least economical driver the low mileage seems to be mainly to blame. The least favorable value measured over a longer distance, 18,132 kilometers, is 1 in 17.5 (5.7 l/100 km).
These are excellent values, although there is an undisputed winner in this class. Drivers of the Toyota Aygo show an average of 1 in 19.5 (5.2 l/100 km), while the comparable Citroën C1 achieves 1 in 18.4 (l/100 km). ‘Aygo drivers do better’, we headlined at the time, and that also applies in the case of the Nissan.
