Still ‘normal’ with combustion engine

Practical consumption Renault Mégane: especially diesels very economical

After the arrival of the Renault Megane E-Tech Electric you would almost forget that the ‘regular’ Mégane is also still available. Although, just? It is only available as a station wagon and with one petrol engine. The engine range was once considerably wider, with a large number of petrol and diesel engines. In this article we discover how economical the different engines are.

Renault is not averse to changing engines, even outside Formula 1. Over the years, the Mégane has been supplied with different engine and power variants. For example, if we are talking about the TCe 130, it is a four-cylinder 1.2 turbo petrol engine. The TCe 115, TCe 140 and TCe 160 use the newer 1.3-litre. The ‘thickest’ Mégane in this article is the GT, with a 205 hp 1.6-liter under the arched hood. Above that there is of course the Mégane RS, but owners would probably rather be driving than entering their fuel receipts. It’s simpler with the diesel engines: in the AutoWeek Consumption Monitor we only see 1.5 DCi’s with 110 or 115 hp power.

Consumption Renault Mégane TCe

With the Mégane TCe 130, equipped with the older 1.2-liter, users drive an average of 1 in 14.4 (7 l / 100 km). The more modern 1.3-liter does a lot better with an average of 1 to 15.2, especially if you consider that we have taken all powers of 115, 140 and 160 hp together. The best value is even 1 in 19.5 (5.1 l/100 km), although this driver has not kept up with consumption for very long. But with a consumption of 1 to 17.1 (5.8 l/100 km) over more than 20,000 kilometers, even the second most economical Mégane 1.3 TCe driver does not have to be ashamed.

Then we take a look at the sporty Mégane GT 205, of which three drivers have tracked their consumption. That is an average of 1 in 12.7 (8 l/100 km), where average 1 in 14.7 (6.8 l/100 km) as the best result can be called very neat. Firmly driving is reportedly a consumption of 1 to 9.9 (10.1 l / 100 km).

And how economical is the Megane DCi?

Fortunately for Renault, there is still the Mégane DCi to compensate, which shows considerably better figures. On average, owners and users drive 1 to 20 (5 l/100 km). The most economical Mégane DCi is a 110 hp hatchback, with which the driver covered about 60,000 kilometers with a consumption of 1 to 23.9 (4.19 l / 100 km). The worst value, 1 in 16.3 (6.2 l/100 km), is due to a Mégane Estate DCi 130 GT-line.
