Practical consumption Seat Ibiza: that’s how economical Seat’s compact hatchback is

Lately there has been turmoil around Seat. Chances are that the brand will live on, but not necessarily as a traditional car manufacturer. This tradition unmistakably includes the Seat Ibiza, the Spanish alternative to the Volkswagen Polo and the likes. Under the hood we find the well-known TSI petrol engines. How economical is the Seat Ibiza with that?

It will be a while before the last Seats leave the factory, the brand is reportedly still working on updates of the Leon, Ibiza and Arona. The Leon was already discussed in this section, now we focus on the Ibiza with the three-cylinder 1.0 TSI.

Consumption Seat Ibiza 1.0 TSI

In the Seat Ibiza, the well-known one liter with capacities of 95, 110 or – until 2020 – 115 hp. These engines are basically the same, and it does not matter to the technology whether Seat now labels them as TSI or EcoTSI. For these reasons, we bundle all the figures to see a consumption of 1 to 17.5 (5.8 l/100 km) under the line.

The driver of a 110 hp variant from 2017 proves that a more powerful version does not necessarily result in higher consumption. With a consumption of 1 to 20.9 (4.78 l/100 km) over a distance of 22,473 kilometers, it is the undisputed economy champion. He is closely followed by the driver of a sporty Ibiza FR Business Intense. This car, with 95 hp power, drove 104,769 km with an average consumption of 1 in 20.7 (4.84 l / 100 km).

Less economical is also possible

At the bottom of the list dangles a 95 hp variant, the driver of which drove almost 13,000 kilometers with an average consumption of 1 to 13.3 (7.5 l / 100 km). The second most economical driver ‘does’ 1 in 14.8 with a 115 hp Ibiza 1.0 TSI: already a lot better, despite the sporty driving style.

Although the Seat Ibiza 1.0 TSI with an average consumption of 1 to 17.5 performs reasonably well, drivers of a Volkswagen Polo 1.0 TSI with 95 hp do even better. Whether that has to do with the Spanish temperament of the Seat would be nothing more than guesswork, although a few drivers show that a consumption of better than 1 in 20 is also perfectly possible with the Ibiza.
