Owners review their own Peugeot 208

The flag can go out at Peugeot! The 208 not only dominates the B segment, it is even the best-selling car of 2022 in the Netherlands. You can conclude that the new 208 is an attractive offer that attracts many customers to the showroom. But what do owners think once the Peugeot 208 is in their possession? You can read that here!
The Peugeot 208 is not only well represented in the street scene, it also stands out above average. That’s because the bright yellow Jaune Faro metallic is the only free color. You even have to pay extra for white paint. Whether it is also the reason that many reviewers on AutoWeek.nl opt for a yellow Peugeot 208 is not entirely clear. People are positive about the color: “The yellow one, yes, it is yellow, you just have to dare? I do, afterwards I am very happy that I chose this color.”
Small steering wheel and seating position
Peugeot’s i-Cockpit, with its small steering wheel and high-positioned instruments, always manages to divide journalists. You are for or against, nothing in between seems to exist. Owners of a 208 are more lenient and find their way behind the steering wheel, although several adjustment attempts are sometimes necessary before the correct position is found. Tip from an owner: “It’s okay if the top of the steering wheel falls just over the bottom edge of the i-Cockpit’s screen. Nothing happens in the lower part of the screen that you need to read.”
The front seats provide more division. The support is appreciated, especially with copies in the more luxurious GT version. A taller driver complains about insufficient support for their thighs because you cannot adjust the angle of the seat. The space in the back seat is unanimously rated as tight.
Operation Peugeot 208
Improvement is desired in the field of infotainment. The Peugeot 208 brings together a lot of functionality in the central display. A bit too much, if it’s up to owners, and the screen also responds too slowly to touches. Physical buttons are highly desirable, the buttons that are there will be found by an owner on the small side.
Reviewers pay little attention to the digital depth effect instrumentation, which is standard on many versions. “The 3D dashboard looks nice, but it’s just a gimmick. I wouldn’t necessarily pay more for it,” writes one owner. Someone else commented: “It is disturbing that the dashboard and navigation switch to night mode under every viaduct. Going back to the day mode takes quite a long time.”
Engine and (electric) drive
The Peugeot 208 is available with petrol engines delivering 82, 100 or 130 hp. There is also the electric e-208 with 136 hp. This version will soon be replaced by a new e-208 with 156 hp. The current electric motor is already popular. “Immediately noticed that the car reacts immediately when ‘gas’ and builds up the speed in a nice linear way”, writes a satisfied owner. “Sooo… that doesn’t drive wrong!”
According to the Review section of AutoWeek.nl, the petrol engine with 100 hp is the most chosen. This 1.2-liter three-cylinder with turbo is praised on the one hand for its fierceness, even the noise remains in the background. The fuel consumption also remains within limits. Not entirely surprising, the electric variant is the quietest. “To conclude, the last and biggest plus. The car is incredibly quiet. Of course that is the case with most EVs, but the Peugeot is also excellently insulated against noise from tires and wind.”
