Preliminary American prize Lucid Air announced

Today Lucid finally finally pulls the curtain off the Air; a car with which it wants to push the boundaries of electric cars. For that you have to dig deep into your pockets, although there are also more affordable versions.

It is already clear that the Lucid Air promises to be something special. The first production model of the American company must be able to go further on one battery charge than any EV, must charge faster and must also offer a great luxury experience. It all sounds nice, but of course there is a hefty price. Top version, called ‘Dream’, will cost $ 161,500 in the US (after tax), company reports Bloomberg. Converted to more than € 137,000, you will therefore lose (in the US) for the expected record-breaking performance.

If you prefer to take it a bit easier (also financially), you can sign up for the Grand Touring version. Converted this will cost around € 110,000. The Touring is below that and has a price of around € 85,000. According to Lucid, the still nameless ‘entry-level’ must cost somewhere in the € 60,000 (converted).

Exact pricing and specifications of the versions are likely to follow later today or sometime this week. What is already known is that the top version has a 130 kWh battery pack on board, has an expected WLTP driving range of (converted) above 800 km and accelerates from a standstill to 100 km / h in 2.5 seconds. The variant below, probably the Grand Touring and possibly also the Touring, will reportedly get a battery pack with a capacity of 100 kWh. The entry-level version is still completely shrouded in mystery when it comes to specifications. In the long run, the Air, which competes with the BMW (i) 7’s and Mercedes-Benz (EQ) S’s of this world, should also be available in the Netherlands.
