Price new entry-level BMW i4 known

In August, BMW presented a new entry-level version of the electric i4. Shortly afterwards, BMW confirmed to AutoWeek that the i4 eDrive35 would also come to the Netherlands. Before BMW itself publicizes it, AutoWeek can already report the price of that new basic i4.

Until now you could get the electric BMW i4 with two different powertrains. The BMW i4 was only available as an eDrive40 and as an M50. The first has a 340 hp electric motor on the rear axle and an 80.4 kWh battery in its bottom, good for a range of 590 kilometers. The M50 is the sporty top version, complete with two 544 hp electric motors and the same battery pack as the eDrive40. BMW now parks the eDrive35 below, a version that not only has a more modest electric motor than the eDrive40, but which is also endowed with a smaller battery pack. The BMW i4 eDrive35 has a starting price of €58,662 in the Netherlands.

With a starting price of just under 59 mille, the BMW i4 eDrive35 is just under €4,000 cheaper than the i4 eDrive40. What do you get for that? A 286 hp and 400 Nm electric motor on the rear axle and a 67 kWh (net) battery. With that hardware, the i4 eDrive35 is 54 hp less powerful than the i4 eDrive40, but that is certainly not the case. In exactly six seconds, the new entry-level version reaches a speed of 100 km/h, the eDrive40 is only 0.3 seconds faster in the same sprint. The smaller battery pack provides the i4 eDrive35 with a range of 422-483 kilometers. However, the battery pack with up to 180 kW can be filled with fresh power, while the battery packs of the eDrive40 and M50 can handle a charging capacity of 205 kW.
