Up to almost 130 kilometers electrically
Mercedes-Benz is expanding the price list of the new GLC. The second generation GLC was available as GLC 200, 300 and 220d, but is now also available as GLC 300e and 400e. Indeed, those are two plug-in hybrid versions. In addition, Mercedes-Benz puts a new diesel version on the list: the 300d.
At the presentation of the new GLC, Mercedes-Benz already mentioned the arrival of two hybrid powertrains. Those plug versions have now also been added to the Dutch price list. The most accessible of the bunch is the GLC 300e 4Matic. It has a 204 hp 2.0 four-cylinder, which works together with a 136 hp electric motor. The system power is 313 hp and 550 Nm and with that you reach a speed of 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds. More interesting is of course the electric range. That is in fact a more than generous 124-130 kilometers. Mercedes-Benz asks at least €73,804 for the GLC 300e 4Matic, which makes it only a good €1,200 more expensive than the GLC 200 with 204 hp four-cylinder petrol engine.
Above that is the GLC 400e. Just like the GLC 300e, this plug-in hybrid version has a 2.0 four-cylinder, although that petrol engine in the 400e with 252 hp more power. Together with the well-known 136 hp electric motor, the powertrain delivers a system output of 381 hp and 650 Nm, sufficient to complete the 0-100 sprint in just 5.6 seconds. You can use it electrically for 119 to 129 kilometers and you will lose at least €83,363 for it. With both plug-ins you can drive up to 140 km/h purely electrically.
More engine news? Yes. The 194 hp GLC 220d gets the 269 hp 300d above it. The diesel version has 550 Nm and helps the GLC reach a speed of 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds. Mercedes-Benz asks at least €95,529 for the GLC 300d.
